Sleep Quality and Lifestyle in Modern Bulgaria
A study on the influence of daily habits on sleep among Bulgarians, presented by The Sleep Traveler.
In today's world, dominated by technology and a dynamic pace of life, sleep quality is becoming an increasingly important indicator of well-being. In Bulgaria, this issue is particularly relevant, as lifestyles directly influence nighttime rest.
One of the key observations is related to screen time. On average, Bulgarians spend over 4 hours a day outside of work in front of smartphones, tablets, or televisions. The blue light emitted by these devices disrupts the production of melatonin – the hormone responsible for sleep.
Work schedules also play a significant role. Irregular hours, especially for people in the service sector and IT industry, lead to chrono-desynchronization of the internal clock. Commutes, even short trips to work, increase stress levels and reduce the time allocated for relaxation before bed.
Experts from The Sleep Traveler emphasize that to improve sleep, conscious planning of evening routines is necessary. This includes creating a calm environment, reducing stimulants, and establishing a consistent bedtime.
The study shows that small changes in daily life can lead to a significant improvement in sleep quality and, consequently, in overall health and productivity.
